Ghost Stories

Here are two book dioramas I made featuring ghosts.

I like ghosts, or at least using them in art projects. I think they are very interesting, but are they real? I am undecided. I've never seen a ghost but I have met plenty of people who claim that they have. It is hard to disregard other peoples experiences... especially when I know the people and believe them to be trustworthy. Plus, I always love to hear people's personal ghost stories.
One of the most interesting non-fiction books I read about ghosts is 'Spook' by Mary Roach. The book takes a scientific approach at explaining what happens to us after we die. She writes about ghosts but also other topics such as reincarnation and out-of-body experiences. What I especially appreciate about Mary Roach is that she approaches the subject matter completely without dogmatism. Most people who write about ghosts (or other controversial topics) already have an opinion. Instead of being neutral, most ghost literature has a strong skeptic or believer vibe depending on the author's own opinion. It was refreshing to read a book where the author was making an honest attempt to understand the various phenomenon she was investigating without letting her preconceived beliefs interfere. She didn't have an agenda to make me believe or not believe and therefore I had a greater trust in her information. Also, it is nice when an author trusts you to form you own opinion based on what you read.

I have always found ghosts, and/or the idea of ghosts, to be so fascinating. I may have to check out this author!
